Spring Cleaning: 10 Neglected Areas
Spring is just around the corner. With all the warm weather we have had lately, the spring cleaning bug has sprung. So, open your windows, stock up on cleaning supplies, and start working on these 10 neglected areas for a sparkling home.
What is it about winter that causes us to start hoarding random items? Start your spring cleaning by getting rid of clutter. Go through your closets, shelves, and storage. Keep what you can reuse and donate or toss what you won’t.
Go through all your clothes and donate or throw away any damaged, old, or unwanted clothes. If they are still in good condition, try reselling them to a second-hand store. Put away all winter clothes and swap them for your spring and summer clothes. There’s no need for your skiing coat to take up space in your closet!
- Curtains and Blinds
Dust has a funny way of collecting on curtains and blinds in your home. Use a duster to get all loose dust off the blinds, then wipe down with a wet cloth to clean them. Vacuum curtains and steam clean them or have them cleaned professionally.
- Baseboards and Walls
Fill a bucket with warm soapy water and wipe down all baseboards and walls. You will see a major difference after doing this! It will also give you a close up of any chips in your paint on the walls that may need a touch up.
- Doors and Door Frames
Wipe down the door frames and door. Polish the door knob or handle and lubricate the hinges.
Wash the windows on the inside and outside. Clean the track and the frame. Don’t forget the window sill!
- Appliances and Cabinets
Deep clean your oven, stove top, fridge, and dishwasher. Pull appliances out and clean the floor and walls behind them. Wipe down the cabinets and clean inside them.
- AC Vents
AC Vents gather dust and dirt from the circulating air. Dust the vents and use a toothbrush with soapy water to deep clean them. Now is a great time to change your air filter too.
Rent a machine or hire a company and have your carpets and rugs washed. Wash and polish wooden floors.
